I am
interested in participating in the Basic Workshop, but
am curious about how safe it is to go into the prison?
Since 1992, when workshops were started in New Hampshire
at the men's prison in Concord, there has never been a
single incident in which any of our AVP outside
volunteers (facilitators or participants from the
community) were put at risk.
The AVP program is one of the most well respected and
highest regarded programs by the inmate population.
How much does it cost to attend one of the prison
workshops?
Nothing. In accordance with AVP policy, there will be no
charge for anyone participating in an AVP workshop that
takes place in any correctional facility.
How soon can I participate in my Basic Workshop?
Check the upcoming schedule and see when and where the
next Basic Workshop is that you'd like to attend. Each
facility has a contact person we refer to as the
Facility Coordinator. The names of each of the facility
coordinators are listed on the
schedule page below
the schedule itself.
Just by clicking on the appropriate facility or contact
name, you can email that coordinator and make the
necessary arrangements. It's that simple!
What are the costs involved in getting AVP-NH workshops
into local high schools?
AVP-NH does not charge any monetary fee for putting on
workshops at schools. All we ask is that the school
provide a suitable room in which to conduct the workshop
as well as food and beverages for the participants and
facilitators. Supplies used for the operation of the
workshop are provided by AVP. We are funded by donations
from generous folks like you.
Is
there lodging available if I am willing to travel to New
Hampshire to participate in a workshop at the Northern
Correctional Facility in Berlin?
There is currently no AVP program at the Northern
Correctional Facility (NCF) in Berlin. Both AVP New
Hampshire and the NCF correctional staff are interested
in getting the program restarted there. We currently
lack volunteers who are allowed in to the facility. If
you are from the Berlin, NH or surrounding area and are
interested in helping us get AVP reinstituted at NCF,
please contact Charles Oropallo, AVPNH State
Coordinator, via email at
Charles@AVPNH.org or at
603-924-6759.
